Website design brief
An important requirement for the Pinnacle website was for it to introduce the various brands the company represents. Each brand (Azimut, Elan, Impression, Monterey Boats, Agapi Boats and Nacra Sailing) has a dedicated page featuring a video and link to the dealer website.
The client also wanted separate sections to list stock and demo boats, pre-owned motor boats and pre-owned sailing boats. Each of these sections needed search functionality (year, length, price, etc) and a sub-menu to enable switching between sections. Other considerations included a responsive design that would adapt to tablets and smartphones, a home page slideshow and full-screen Google map.
Photographs used for the home page slideshow were provided by Pinnacle Marine's dealers. File sizes were generally huge and the quality exemplary. Photo of stock or pre-owned boats used elsewhere on the site were sourced and uploaded by the client.
Content management system
Client access to the site is via a custom-coded content management system, programmed with PH 5.4 and SQLite3. The system enables the client and designated administrators to add, edit and delete listings. Multiple photo uploads are possible, as is the option to select and crop thumb-sized images. The system also allows YouTube videos to be embedded.
